Putting some posts together... Just like synthesising information!


I will start off by putting a spotlight on the word 'SYNTHESIS'. When I first read the description of what the Skype  call was going to be about, I got a bit confused. Thankfully, the confusion did not last very long - I just needed some knowledge of the synthesis within our context. 

So basically the whole idea is to make sure that all the information in our assignments is linked rather than just having one point following another. By doing so, this would correlate with how our practice synthesis. At first I thought but what does this really mean? Our practice already has a title so I suppose it is already synthesised! However, by reflecting back on how a practice has a title but with different components that make it up, one must understand that every element must be valued in order to create the whole picture, title. 

Christmas is not far so why not, let me compare... Everyone knows what a Christmas tree is and can easily imagine one, with all the different decorations, lights etc.. as soon as mentioned. Now, would this image in your mind be the same if the lights were turned off? Not quite! The same with our practice, if one of its elements are taken away then the title will probably not have its full power!


Moving on to last night's discussion call... I got a bit overwhelmed by the end, and yes I was the one who asked about what would happen if an assignment fails! I panicked!
Anyways, I slept on it, literally as I kept thinking and thinking... which is what this course is all about, so maybe yes I am on the track in a way, but I am working my way around how to present diagram and as discussed last night, different ways of how to communicate. So here I am, 24hours on, I decided I am going to keep my original spider web diagram ( which if I delete one of the many lines, my practice falls apart.. hint hint... synthesis) and incorporate it into a video/movie. This decision has been made because my brain is trying to tell me that I am thinking, however, struggling to use too many words and sentences, so some visuals shall aid me ... Dancer's life, literally!! 

And finally this brings me to say that I now understand myself better in the way I learn... I am more of a visual learner, along with a bit of explanation.

Been a while since I have managed to put a blog post together, but it feels good. I suppose it is like the calm after the storm of panic from last night.

    I really liked your explination of synthesis, I wasn't on the original call and this really helped. I will now look through my essay ensuring I have synthesis. And don't worry about the panic, I too was wondering, ' What happens if I fail?' x

Monday Discussion group - Module 1

I feel that I am starting to get the hang of it now. I felt more confident to voice my opinion and join in with the discussion.  One of the main points discussed today was that we all have a title to our own professional practice, however, we must look further into it by understanding what elements make it have such a title. The title is just the common thing -the specific, personal elements and key points make my practice different to somebody else's who might have the same title. In saying so, I shall focus on peeling my self away from the surface of my practice and think about the building bricks that I have given myself to become a professional. Pleased to meet you :)

Trying to get used to all these meet and greets virtually, but certainly cannot complain - what would we do if it was not for technology?! On Thursday, I had my one to one with my supervisor, Maria and it was great. As the conversation went on, she got to know more about myself and what my practice is. I shared some ways of how I prefer to study, plan my work and I asked any questions that I had.  In the meantime, I have started to read through the handbook in order to take note of any ideas that come to my head as I read the lenses.

Skype Welcoming Call!

I was quite nervous till the Skype call got going, but then I quickly calmed down and felt at ease as we were shown around the UniHub. I have to say that this is my first time doing a course with a University so the Skype call was of great help to see how the Website works and where all the folders are and what they include.  The most thing that drew my attention and that I am really looking forward to use is the library service. Initially I was a bit unsure and worried about how I would be able to do all the required research and readings. Looking forward to work with my supervisor and get on with this course!
